The most important thing, when you are talking about the bassets is when you are talking about every living being: health. Unfortunately, the basset, mostly in Eastern-Europe is accused with some illnesses, which can be dissolved only with consequent work. Some of these are dysplasya, glaucoma, etc. Very important for us to breed only with negativ test resulted bassets, because of it we started to go on a road, which is followed by a very few persons in Hungary, unfortunately. But I'm sure that we can win a lot of people for the good issue, because it is our own interest that our dog make us happy and not the vet bills will be the only permanent remembrance.

The basset mostly bred by for hunting, the delightful outlook comes after. Because of it is very important to observe its original function. Naturally I'm not talking about that every basset owner have to run to the forest for chasing rabbits and deers and pass the working trial. Passing the working trial is indispensable requirement, because like the big ears, the good nose is hereditable too.

It is certain that the basset to come through as a pet, that's why the good nervous system is very important. We are frequently bringing our hounds with us by car, by train, by bus and walking in the city. This way we can familiarizate our hounds to any attitude, and they will be confident. We also accustomize our puppies to cars, people, other dogs, and the little children are here, my brother-in-law's three little boys making our puppies to like children. The two least boys learned to walk by clanging on the ears of our basset, they're sleeping on each other very often, wrestling, they're pulling the mustache of her, and she tolerated it with the biggest calmnest. That's what a real basset hound like.

So, the most important things for us are: classical basset type-good availability, interest for the game-good nervous system, nice personality, lovely temperament-loyality for the family, love of the children.
